Although the incidents are not connected, it is believed both were the result of heavy alcohol consumption.
The latest incident, on Friday evening, occurred near the Royal Hotel on Vincent Street.
The young man who was assaulted rushed to the aid of others when he saw a fight break out. He lost several teeth and has subsequently had surgery on his ankle.
A Daylesford Police Station spokesperson said it was investigating the incident and had interviewed a 19-year-old male who was assisting with their inquiries.
“We know excessive drinking can lead to serious consequences, including violent crime and anti-social behaviour. Too often police see the negative impact that over-supply and excessive consumption of alcohol has, including the devastating consequences of street assaults and road trauma,” the spokesperson said.
Daylesford Police asked for anybody with further information to call the station on 5348 2342.
