With more than 700 people descending on the tiny town throughout the day, the event has been declared the biggest and best to ever take place.
Dean Recreation Reserve Committee President Brian Maher said he was rapt with the outcome.
“I am just over the moon that so many people came. This is a tourist attraction which promotes farming so it’s something different for people to come and see.”
Mr Maher said he had received a lot of positive feedback from visitors including that they had been overwhelmed with the hospitality shown by the organisers and that they had thoroughly enjoyed the day.
The trials saw 15 trainers from all over the state compete with a total of 42 dogs.
Koroit’s Barry Paton and his dog Paton’s Sunshine, came first in the event with a score of 180. Second place went to Sue Young and her dog Ashens Nell, from Bannockburn, who scored 158 points.
Third place went to Sunbury’s Mouli Siriharan and dog Trewina Poppy with 144 points while fourth went to Ross Creek’s John Tuddenham and Granan Roo, who scored 138 points. Sue Young also won fifth place with 133 points, this time with Granan Lady, while John Tuddenham and Paddy won sixth place with 80 points.
