Investigators say the Daylesford woman had wandered away from her home last night, before being discovered this morning.
Police are not searching for any witnesses.

EARLIER, 9.30AM: The body of a woman has been found in the water of Lake Daylesford this morning.
As of 9am, police were still at the scene of the discovery, where the woman’s body remained in the water.
It is believed the body was discovered by a passer-by about 8am.
It was located near the bridge on Bleakley Street near the renowned Boathouse Daylesford restaurant.
A crime scene has been established.
It is not yet known how the woman died or how long she had been in the water.
Temperatures were near freezing this morning in Daylesford.
The Bleakley Street bridge crosses over Lake Daylesford in a quaint part of the town.
The drop-off to the surface of the water is only a few metres from the road.
Pedestrians at the scene told The Courier they had been asked to avoid the area but had not been told what was happening.
Locals The Courier has spoken to say the bridge is popular with children in summer time to jump off.
A police water squad is believed to be en-route.
