All of the town’s schools have been busy creating and colouring lanterns to parade on the evening. This year’s theme is The Magic Pudding in celebration of the 100th anniversary since the famous children’s book’s release.
The festival, which drew a crowd of more than 500 people last year, will be held at Creswick’s splash park.
The festival will include a parade of lanterns styled on the book’s characters as well as a shadow puppetry show.
Pavillion Arts member Bill Weidner said the event was created as a way to bring together the town’s 45 community groups.
“It came about when Pavillion Arts decided to do a community building focus to develop resilience in the community.
“We had 45 groups but they were all polarised without a connection. Now we all come together to put on this festival,” he said.
The event will begin at 5.30pm before the parade at 6.30pm.
