It will be a massive day for the club, with super coach Danny Koleski returning to coach the big day.
Seniors
The grand final dream is over for Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club’s senior players.
The senior saints lost 3-2 in extra time during their game against a youthful Horsham Falcons outfit, who took their chances clinically.
The Saints went into the game with the hope of honouring their coach and all time league best and fairest, Dragi Koleski, with a win, to see him return for the grand final.
But it wasn't to be, with the Saints unable to find the winning extra time goal, despite a number of chances and hitting the post three times.
Horsham played a good game, catching the Saints out twice in the first half with two good finishes, after some sloppy and unlucky defensive slip-ups without star defenders Francis Comber and Ivan Carter.
Despite missing important talent, chances were prevalent at each end and it was pure bad luck that resulted in the lack of goals.
A strong battle was fought by best player on pitch, Hiroshi Masuda, who was all over the pitch throughout the game and who scored two amazing rocket man goals.
At 45 years of age, Masuda is a thrill to watch and is without a doubt one of the best players to ever light up the BDSA.
Painful as it will be for the Saints, who deserved something from the game, the lads can hold their head up high as they have beaten both teams playing in next week’s grand final throughout the season. They even knocked out Ballarat Red last week without their champion captain Dragi Koleski.
Horsham is no doubt a team to watch in the future and will be sure to shine some stars across the Wimmera sky. Excellent performances by everyone.
