Not only is Johns 13 years old, but he is also colour blind, having been diagnosed with moderate protan red-green blindness when he was a child.
A self taught talent, Johns shoots all of his photos with his Canon 1300D, which he received as a gift for his 13th birthday. He shoots in raw mode before editing his work himself, which he learnt how to do by watching videos on YouTube.
He enjoys landscape and macro photography and said he would love to work for a nature magazine like National Geographic in the future.
Johns does not believe his condition effects his eye for photography. He does not know any different, but believes being able to see shades and textures easily may assist his creative edge.
Johns has been chosen to photograph 13 executives from Tourism Victoria in Clunes on September 15, in which he will show off not only the people, but also the historic streetscape.
