Vanessa Craven, of Welsh-Indian background, is an Australian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been passionate about guitar-playing since her early teens in India. 

Since 2009 she has played her music in a variety of settings such as the Deni Roots and Blues Festival, Castlemaine Fringe Festival, Daylesford Folk and Blues Festival and Ballan Autumn Festival, to mention a few. Influences range from guitar maestros such as Ry Cooder to singer-songwriters such as Janis Ian. Don Gula on double bass and Vanessa Craven on guitar, lap-slide and harmonica will play as a duo, bringing some smooth vocals  and easy listening music that goes well with a glass or two of wine, beer or some Blue Bean coffee.

Sunday, Sean Dixon @ Blue Bean Cafe 

A singer-songwriter from Melbourne, self-taught on guitar and piano, Dixon has spent substantial parts of his youth travelling the world sharing his songs.

From teaching guitar to kids in an orphanage in northern India, to busking in the old town of Stockholm, he has shared his musical rhythm among many.

August 24,  Fundraiser for Chris Wilson @ Corner Hotel, Melbourne

A fundraiser will be held in Melbourne after the sad news over the past week of the pancreatic cancer diagnosis for Australian music legend Chris Wilson.

Wilson has been a frequent visitor to Daylesford over the years, particularly to The Old Hepburn Hotel, be it with full band, duo mode or with partner Sarah Carroll and more recently his talented sons.

Wilson has been an essential part of blues and rock music in Australia since taking the stage with the Sole Twisters 30 years ago.

Stints with Harum Scarum and Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls followed.

By the end of the ’80s he was one of our finest vocalists, harmonica players and songwriters, fronting Crown of Thorns.

Collaborations with all the classic rock names of the ’80s and onward have ensued and his work with Shane O’Mara, especially the revered Live at the Continental must be one of the best live Australian albums ever recorded.

He has also worked with the finest of overseas artists including Joe Henry, Charlie Musselwhite and Tony Joe White.

Bob Dylan once made a special trip backstage to shake Wilson’s hand after a show together in 1992.

His '90s album with Diesel remains this country’s highest selling blues album.
