Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club’s senior division again struggled against a team lower on the ladder during the round 17 match at the weekend.

The Saints drew with Ballarat White, managing a 2-2 draw despite the poor weather conditions on Sunday.

The Saints did well to get away with a point, after being 2-1 down with 10 minutes left of the game.

Once again, missed opportunities cost the boys dearly, with chances going wide and lots of possession in midfield.

Ballarat White played well with their 17 year old players proving too pacey at times.

Jonathan Chester and Mark Mcowan each scored a goal for Ballarat, while the Saints’ Josh Smith, Ivan Carter and Richard Malter made some crucial challenges.

Murray Pelham scored an excellent first goal for the Saints on his left foot, whilst Tim Leney scored the second.

The Saints now sit in fourth place on the Ballarat and District Soccer Association’s ladder, only two points above 5th placed Buninyong.

With only four games remaining in the season, it will be a tight contest and will go down to the wire.

Returning for the Saints next week will be the Nulty double combo deal, brothers Jack and Dylan Nulty, who should provide some fire power up front.
