The club took a public stand by stating violence against women was unacceptable by holding a White Ribbon Round in an effort to speak out against violence and prevent the cycle of abuse in the community.
DFNC held a sausage sizzle and supported the foundation by selling White Ribbon merchandise.
The White Ribbon Foundation said sport was an important way to raise awareness of the importance of respectful relationships.
It said White Ribbon Rounds could engage men and women of all ages, encourage a club’s staff, players and fans to support the cause by sparking positive conversations, heighten the profile of the club’s work against domestic violence and foster positive role modelling.
It is hoped the round would encourage people to reflect on their own and other’s attitudes and behaviours in relation to men’s violence against women.
