Last Thursday July 12, Mr Morris, along with around 40 other people, attended a Transport Forum meeting in Trentham, led by Transport for Victoria’s manager for Regional Public Transport Development, Assets and Networks, Caithleen Jones.
Mr Morris said he was really excited about the news and he would be encouraging more people to use the service when it came into effect.
“I am really proud of myself and what I have done for the town,” he said.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas also attended the meeting and congratulated Mr Morris and his supporters for their efforts.
Another Trentham resident who has campaigned for more bus services in the town is Helen Macdonald.
She said the proposed new timetable for services between Daylesford and Woodend was distributed at the meeting for people to look at, comment on and raise questions about.
“There will be additional services each day, with more options for people who work in the city and more focus on connecting buses with trains. General feedback from meeting attendees was positive,” Ms Macdonald said.
“Also part of the meeting was a discussion of potential services between Trentham and Kyneton, as part of a review of the Kyneton network. The goal is two return services from Kyneton to Trentham, which would run Monday to Saturday. Locals responded positively to this idea as well, to make it possible to get to and from Kyneton by bus on the same day,” she said.
The next step in the process will be to put a proposal to the Minister for Transport for approval.
Once it has been approved, Transport for Victoria will then be able to start to schedule Trentham’s new bus timetable.
According to Hepburn Shire Council, the new services should come into effect by the end of this year.
The timetable will be made available on the PTV website before the new services begin.
