While the major supermarkets recently legislated a ban on single use plastic bags in every state except NSW, it seems the change has not been a leap for many residents of Hepburn Shire.

Daylesford Coles’ Customer Service Manager Janet Hucker said many customers had been refusing single use bags for years, preferring to bring their own reusable bags when doing their grocery shopping.
Last week, Coles gave out free reusable plastic bags in an effort to help customers who had been vocal about the inconvenience of bringing their own bags make the transition.
The supermarket giant also sells its Community Bags, designed by schoolchildren, with 10 per cent of sales going towards charity partners SecondBite, Guide Dogs Australia, Clean Up Australia and Little Athletics.
