The tower, proposed for development at 22 Loddon Drive, Glenlyon, would comprise of a sixty metre lattice tower, associated equipment, an equipment shelter, associated earthworks and the removal of seven native trees.
The tower was previously advertised in The Advocate and council received eight objections, citing impact on visual amenity, exposure to electronic radiation, concerns about the feasibility of the NBN service and cancellation of phone lines.
The applicants, Visionstream, addressed the council in support of the application, saying the company intended on retaining as much vegetation as possible.
The applicants said they had held a community information session, at which 25 people came through the door.
They said 537 premises, that is to say 1100 people, in Wheatsheaf, Lyonville and Glenlyon would benefit from the internet service.
