Saturday, Cash Savage & The Last Drinks @ Theatre Royal, Castlemaine
Join Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, a powerful and confronting live band, in celebrating the release of Better Than That, the first single from their forthcoming album Good Citizens, set for release later this year.
This is serious outlaw, whisky drenched, straight ahead country tinged blues-influenced rock’n’roll. And of course, I mean that in a good way!
Cash Savage (double-barrelled rock’n’roll name or what?) explores the darker corners of the human condition with a “rich, husky and soulful voice that is nothing short of astounding.
When she sings, you can feel every broken heart, every tale of woe.
The band, the ever-evolving Last Drinks, can move from a three to an eight-piece, depending upon the environment and who turns up on the night.
Cash’s parents are country musicians and she is a niece of Bad Seed Conway Savage.
So it’s a fair bet she heard the tinklings of both Jerry Lee and Conway from the cot.
Her debut album WOLF was recorded at various locations across Victoria. She has since recorded even more fully realised albums including The Hypnotiser and her wonderful One of Us from 2016, which topped many scribes best of lists of that year.
She has received glowing reviews from both 3RRR and Rhythms magazine, where her work has been described as a “testament to the raw power of Cash Savage, an artist like no other in Melbourne”.
Log on to her website for her influences – there aren’t too many on that list I’m not a fan of. Her profile and fan base have grown over the last five to six years.
Performing with special guest Blake Scott (The Peep Tempel).
