All councillors were in favour of appointing Evan King as the new CEO for a period of four years. Mr King will begin his new role as CEO on July 23.

He previously held the position of General Manager Corporate Services at Hepburn Shire Council.

After former CEO Aaron van Egmond resigned in March, the council appointed a CEO Recruitment Committee at its March 20 council meeting to progress the recruitment process.

At the April 17 council meeting, councillors appointed McArthur as the consultant to undertake the CEO recruitment process. 

Deputy Mayor Cr Don Henderson said 39 candidates had communicated their interest in the position with 36 of those candidates shortlisted and interviewed. 

Mayor Cr John Cottrell said he was pleased the search for a new CEO had ended with the successful appointment of Mr King.

“Evan was a standout candidate who has the experience and commitment to lead the organisation into the future,” he said. “Evan was a well-respected member of the leadership team at Council during his time as a General Manager, and we look forward to his leadership as the new CEO.”

Mr King has worked in both the private and local government sectors.

He has a list of achievements in Local Government, and is currently Director of Corporate and Community Services at Pyrenees Shire Council.

He has a number of qualifications, including a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Federation University,  is a Certified Practicing Accountant and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr King said he was excited to be heading back to Hepburn Shire to take up the role of its new CEO.

“I look forward to working with Councillors, the community and staff to pursue our priorities. My priority over the coming months will be to ensure we put the customer first and creating a customer focused organisation,” he said.
