No brigade in the shire applied for the first round of grants. In neighbouring Macedon Ranges Shire, however, brigades received more than $215,000.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said brigades across the region had taken advantage of the grants.
“A combined total of $218,000 [is] being delivered for equipment, training and facility upgrades to support increased membership and volunteer safety.
“The second round of grants close at the end of June, so I strongly encourage brigades across the Hepburn Shire to take full advantage of the $10 million Enhancing Volunteering Grants Program and get their applications in to share in the $4.84 million still available.”
The total value of the program is $10 million, with the remaining $4.84 million to be allocated in a second round of grants.
Applications for the second round are open and close on 30 June.
The program is funded by the $60 million the government announced for Victoria’s fire services in October.
