Thursday, The Teskey Brothers @ Theatre Royal, Castlemaine
OK, it’s only mid-year, but I’ll call this the gig of the year so far.
These guys are magnificent – close your eyes and you could be in Muscle Shoals circa 1968 with Duane Allman and Albert King providing searing solos and Wilson Pickett on vocals.
Yep, I really do like this band!
The Teskey Brothers are a soul/blues phenomenon, on the verge of bigger things in a forthcoming US tour.
The Melbourne four-piece have played to packed houses at Melbourne Zoo, SxSW Festival in Texas, Rockwood Music Hall in New York City, the Port Fairy Folk Festival and sets at Byron Bay’s Bluesfest.
The Teskey Brothers’ 2017 album Half Mile Harvest won them accolades, awards and fans far and wide and is a stunning debut, soulful and compelling.
The band’s members return with a new single and are embarking on a three-month world tour that will pass through Europe, North America and their biggest Australian shows to date.

The first stop is up the road at the Theatre Royal in Castlemaine and will be well worth the effort.
The band’s new song, I Get Up, will be released soon.
