The Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy project is supported by Hepburn Wind, Z-NET Hepburn Shire and Hepburn Shire Council.
It launched on April 16 and will run until the end of December.
Manager of the Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy project, Jo Kaptein, said they are keen to promote local jobs for local solar installers.
“We have appointed a solar supplier for our bulk-buys through competitive public tender; we are pleased to confirm that we are working once again with Energy Matters”, she said.
“Already a number of local installers are carrying out solar installations for the Hepburn Solar Bulk-Buy under contract to Energy Matters – and the great news is that due to high demand, we need more.”
Energy Matters appoints local solar installers to install solar PV and grid-connected home battery systems.
Installers work under contract with Energy Matters.
“Energy Matters can of course bring in more installers from outside the area but we’d prefer for local installers to do the work, as this keeps more of the value created by the project within the local community,” Ms Kaptein said.
Owner of Universal Power and Light and solar installer Morgan Kurrajong said it has been great to be employed locally.
“The organisers of the Hepburn Solar Bulk-Buy – who also set up and organise the MASH community solar bulk-buy - have supported my business over several years to provide local employment.
“I live in the area and employ local guys. So it’s been a great boost,” he said.
Clean Energy Council accredited solar installers in the Mount Alexander Shire, Macedon Ranges, City of Greater Bendigo and Hepburn Shire interested in working on the Hepburn Solar Bulk Buy are encouraged to get in contact.
