Girls under 11’s:
The Daylesford Hepburn United under 11’s girls team gave it their all on Sunday, putting up a strong front against a strong Ballarat outfit. The endeavour featured notable performances from defenders Jess and Neisa and from the team’s goal scorer, Ella, who had a strong attack game.
Under 15’s:
Creswick took home a win, beating Daylesford 6 goals to 2.
A number of key players were unavailable last Sunday due to Mother’s Day so Daylesford failed to continue its recently improved play.
Creswick scored twice in the first half but Phil Kelly kicked a goal to keep Daylesford in the game.
Miles Wilkinson scored for Daylesford in the second half which spurred Creswick to reply with a series of four goals.
Daylesford’s best on ground included Phil Kelly, Michael Armstrong, Rohan Singaram and Alice Dennis.
Seniors:
Daylesford seniors continued with their race to the top four of the season in their game against Bacchus Marsh.
Daylesford was behind at the start of the game, but came back strong to win the game 3 goals to 2.
The team put in an incredible effort, as they were two goals down after 25 minutes of play and looking like they were in trouble.
The March had many chances to take the game in the first half. If it were not for Daylesford’s fantastic defending, the game would have been over at half time.
The game’s turning point was obvious. Once Jack Nulty was introduced to the ground, the game took a turn for the better for Daylesford.
Jack Nulty scored two goals and set up a third with a penalty, converted by Dylan Nulty. Jack Nulty’s pressure up front, and work rate, as well as his ability to win every ball, was outstanding.
Bacchus Marsh threw everything at Daylesford but could not find another goal.
Shanka Hackanburgar, Francis Comber, Ivan Carter and Josh Butler’s defences were solid, as were Richard Malter’s.
Dylan Nulty was lively out wide, but midfield was a tough battle on the small pitch.
The seniors take on Creswick this Sunday, 1pm, at their home ground.
