Adding to the victory was the fact Creswick was without skipper Samantha Whelan, who was unavailable due to prior commitments.
Creswick coach Karinna Knowles was pleased with the 62 goals to 44 win, particularly with the girls who stepped up to fill the void while recruit Shannon Palmer was best on court in attack.
“To have our captain and main defender out and to still win by 18 goals was really good,” Knowles said.
“I really didn’t know what we were going in against today, but we started off really strong – a lot of intercepts, and we converted them.
“The girls really stood up, all players contributed really well. They played really well together...a lot of drive, and to keep it up for the full four quarters – I was really happy.”
Creswick will face Clunes next week, a side that beat it last season.
Knowles said while it was only early in the season, the match-up would give a good indication of Creswick’s improvement from last year’s four-win season.
Clunes defeated Skipton by 23 goals and Hepburn accounted for Newlyn by 25 goals.
