Thursday Dan Sultan @Theatre Royal Castlemaine
After wowing audiences at WOMADelaide and Bluesfest, Dan Sultan kicks off his solo tour, with the second intimate tour show in Castlemaine. Stripping back to basics – just Dan Sultan, his piano and guitar, this show is part of a huge 45-date tour, spanning Australia from Hobart to Darwin and everywhere in between.
This intimate, acoustic performance has Sultan re-imagining all of his most recent release, the ARIA #5-debuting, critically-acclaimed Killer (out now via Liberation Records ), including singles ‘Hold It Together’, ‘Kingdom’, ‘Magnetic’ and fan-favourites ‘Cul-de-sac’ and ‘Reaction’.
A re-listen of this proves this is up there with Sultan’s best work, with some lovely material which will surely stand up well in this format. In addition, fans will be treated to a handful of classics from his decade-long back catalogue (expect hits from Blackbird, Dirty Ground, Get Out While You Can and Homemade Biscuits).
To coincide with the Killer Solo Tour, Sultan has also revealed initial details for a very special project he is working on. The Melbourne musician is teaming up with friends Camp Cope, A.B. Original, Meg Mac, and Dave Le’aupepe from Gang Of Youths to rework a selection of songs from Killer.
“I can’t wait to hear the reworked versions of my songs from some of my favourite artists,” Sultan said.
Please note, this gig is likely to sell out before Thursday, so please book at the venue.
