The Norm Gray Jazztet performs music by the great American jazz composers from the 1930s to the 1960s.
The sound is smooth, swinging and sophisticated. For this gig, they will be joined by Wayne Parker on guitar, with Norm Gray on flugelhorn, trumpet and vocals and Simon Wigney on double bass.
Saturday, Kingstone Ska @ Spa Bar, Daylesford
King Stone, a fine mix of hard working professional musicians, specialise in ska. They have done so throughout Central Victoria for about six years. The upbeat seven-piece outfit is always ready to lift you up with the throbbing, pulsating rhythms of ska.
Sunday, Gillian and Terry @ Spa Bar, Daylesford
Friday, Friday Frivolities @ Old Hepburn Hotel
Saturday, ChillOut CREAM (featuring Ladyhood, Monique Brumby, Nat Allison and Casey Freeman) @ Old Hepburn Hotel, doors open 4pm
Don't miss out on CREAM, a ChillOut institution, now in its 13th year.
This year will be no exception, as the festival welcomes for the first time Ladyhood, as well as much-loved Cream favorites Monique Brumby, Nat Allison and Casey Freeman.
Locals are familiar with Nat Alison, who from the studio to the stage, delivers “a pitch-perfect scream, strut antics and evil guitar showboat”. A high-energy, guitar-heavy performance with tough lyrics, powerful vocals and guitar solos to match.
Monique Brumby will be remembered for winning two ARIA Awards for best new artist in 1996 and best female artist in 1997.
An accomplished live performer, she has toured extensively, playing at music festivals including all the big ones from the Port Fairy Folk Festival to the Famous Spiegeltent.
She’s toured with artists including Don McLean, Paul Kelly and the late Jeff Buckley.
Smashing into the pop music scene in 2015, Ladyhood has cemented herself as force to be reckoned with, seducing her audience with a mixture of gravel-sweet sounds, a feisty attitude and an undeniable charisma.
