Hepburn Shire councillor Don Henderson has spoken with the project’s developer, but cannot yet reveal its brand.
Works will begin in coming weeks, with residents expected to see fences going up on the vacant 48 Albert Street property soon.
Cr Henderson says the developer is still working out some minor issues, but planning for the site is now complete.
Although the plans initially took time to reach the council due to the number of objections, these concerns were mostly met by the developer.
The supermarket will be in a modern building in keeping with the current streetscape.
At a Hepburn Shire Council meeting in September 2017, Nathan Ryan represented the developer.
The Ryan family own a chain of IGA stores in Ballarat, Torquay, Mt Clear, Colac, Beaufort and Kyneton.
This rouses speculation as to whether the store could be an IGA.
