SKILLS in a marathon final has a band of young volleyballers showcasing state championship selection this year. Terminators, primarily made of Daylesford Secondary College years seven to nine students, pushed six-time premier Globbogym to a five-set final in competition at the ARC in Daylesford.

A young Terminators took the firm favourites on in a two-hour, 20-minute match, only to narrowly fall in the fifth set. Victorian under-15 player Ben Tsaptsalis lost the first set 25 to 23, led by power hitting from Aurelien Papet and Peter Hunt from Globbo. Terminators dominated second set, 25/20, but Globbo was too strong in the third, 25/22 before Terminators hit back in the fourth via Jack Elliot and Alex Armstrong, 25/21. Globbo took the early lead in fifth via Adam Tonna and Darcy Buck. Terminators rallied through Fin Loft but Globbogym experience showed to win the set and match 19/17.
