After the previous two Saturday competitions were cancelled, the first due to 41-degree heat and the other rained out, it was going to take more than 37 degrees to stop the nine competitors who made up the single section at the Daylesford Lawn Tennis Club.

A Fast4 format (service lets are played as they land, and sudden death on deuce) applied. Reigning men’s champion Pete Ekstedt prevailed with 21/11 ahead of frequent Ballarat visitor Martin Hale with 19/13. John Turnbull coasted into third with 17/15.
Junior tennis resumes on Saturday, February 3, and Thursday twilight competition, for which more players are welcome, resumes on February 1, although there will be players having a hit this Thursday too. Turn up at 6pm.
Social tennis continues every Sunday at 10am, unless it’s going to be hot, then it’s at 9.30am.
