The Great Trentham Spudfest will continue to expand in 2018, organisers say, in an attempt to encourage visitors to ‘stay and play’.
Spudfest convenor Helen Macdonald said the committee would encourage retailers, hospitality venues, bed and breakfasts and other tourist providers to create special offerings for the Sunday after the event.
“We hope people will come up to Spudfest for the day and stay in a hotel or bed and breakfast and explore the area on the Sunday,” Ms Macdonald said.
“One of the ways it can add value unto our area is by using our reach to tell more people about the beautiful surrounds of Trentham.”
The committee is also working on exciting additions to the Saturday spud-filled event.
“There will be artisans making their wares on Market Street next year,” Ms Mcdonald said.
“The open air cafe which we trialed last festival will be a more solid arrangement. We will have a local photographers competition with a spud theme and will put up a photo show of the history of spud farming in the area.”
