Ballarat District Bowls Division made the early call that play would not go ahead on Saturday due to the wet weather.
The decision was made at 9am, with the BDBD citing a limited ability to prepare the greens for competition play as the reason for the cancellation.
“A lot of the clubs couldn’t prepare their greens because they were too wet, that was one of the main issues,” Match committee chairman Tom Clark said.
“We’ve had a fair bit of rain all week.
“You’ve got to way-up all the conditions (across the various greens) and as it turned out it’s been drizzling for a bit anyway...it wouldn’t be comfortable playing bowls.”
