John Curtin Aged Care in Creswick has officially opened its newly refurbished wing, with high quality rooms for residents and the capacity to host art exhibitions.
The refurbishment was part of a major rebuilding project, including a new laundry and residents’ gym.
John Curtin Aged Care CEO Jenni Sewell said the upgrades were a reflection of how the centre wanted to be in the future.
“When our home was built in 1985 it was built for a far different population,” Ms Sewell said.
“People didn’t have really high support needs and had very different expectations of standards of accommodation.
“We now have got luxurious bathrooms, with heated towel rails and automatic lighting. They are fully accessible so you can be completely immobile and use that bathroom.”
The new wing will host an exhibition of local artist Steve Bruechert’s work.
The exhibition is open to visitors Monday to Friday 1pm to 4pm and on weekends by arranging a time until December 29. Call 03 5345 9999 for more information.
