Edwards’ intimate watercolour piece captures winter coming into spring at Mount Buffalo.
“It is in the middle of the snow but all of the trees are taking on this new growth,” Edwards said. “There is this sense that life is being renewed.”
Edwards’ watecolour style of painting borrows from a Japanese technique called sumi-e, where emphasis is placed on the beauty of each individual stroke of the brush.
Carolyn Marrone won best urbanscape for her piece Life on the Ponte Vecchio. Best animalia was awarded to Lyn Cooke, while Richard Stork won best portrait or nude. Uma Barry won best abstract and Susanne Graham won best still life.
