Forty players took to the courts for Thursday twilight competition at the Daylesford Lawn Tennis Club as the new season got into full swing.

In Section 1, President’s Players 35 outshone Barry’s Diamonds 13, while in the scratch match Haig’s Hurricanes 29 beat Gerard’s Jesters 19. Secondary Teachers had a 32/16 win over Hobson’s Heroes in Section 2, while Hepburn Healthy 30 beat Albert’s Aces 18 and Rod’s Rockets 29 accounted for the Newbies 19.
On Saturday afternoon, Ken Charles 24/9 beat Greg Malcher 24/12 in section 1, while in section 2 John Turnbull wonahead of Gabe Kirby and Greg Donaldson.
Juniors:
In section 1, Vincent Smallwood and Dominic Dennis both scored 16/8, with Smallwood prevailing with the higher ranking.
In section 2 Taya Jack had a close win over Oscar McLucas, both scoring 17/7.
In section 3 new player Ruby Hunter 11/5 beat Medhi Bennai 10/6.
The Hot Shots beginner program is off to a great start with 21 players enjoying learning new skills with volunteer coach Lewis Ingham. Beginner players have two groups with players in prep to grade 3 starting at 9.45am and grade 4-6 at 10.20am. All players are welcome and racquets are provided.
