His show features Spanish classical and flamenco music, Celtic and songs for Remembrance Day along with music honouring his ancestors, with many musical works played on his unique 10 string Spanish guitar.
His great grandfather Albert Parkes was a fine violinist, musician and teacher from Covent Garden and his three sons Cecil (violin and piano), Kingsley (violin and piano) and Milton (piano) had a profound effect on the Australian musical scene from 1900 to 1940.
Child prodigy violinist Cecil Parkes toured with Dame Nellie Melba, and with his wife and well-known pianist May Broderick and cellist Christine Frallion performed in the Strad Trio and featured in Australian’s first music sound film by Frank Thring Senior.
That film will feature in Mr Fagan’s performance Virtuoso - A Homage to My Ancestors.
Mr Fagan said his performance would celebrate the journey of Spanish guitar from 1550 to the present.
His handmade Spanish guitar is a 10-string, with four extra bass strings to allow him to play more complex “big music” including Beethoven and Vivaldi.
“It has elements of both piano and violin in it,” he said.
Spanish Classical & Flamenco, Celtic and songs for Remembrance day is on November 11 from 7.30pm at the Senior Citizens Room, entrance at gate on left of Town Hall Main Entrance, Daylesford.
