Events in Hepburn Springs and Daylesford brought the community together for a celebration of the region’s Swiss Italian heritage over the weekend.
Swiss Italian Festa director Rebecca Anderson said the 25th year of the festival was a “huge success”.
“We had a big crowd for the fireworks on Sunday and the entire festival had a really nice feel,” she said.
“It was a sense of community and a sense of joyousness during the festa.”
Over 30 people took part in a historic walk on Friday and families joined the celebrations during the main festival day on Saturday and lantern parade and fireworks on Sunday.
Melbourne resident Helen Hambling visited Hepburn Springs to take part in the festival on Friday.
“It’s such a great part of history. We love the fact that the Swiss and Italians protected the mineral springs from the gold miners,” she said. “They came to create a new life for themselves and found what was great about this country – the mineral springs is a really good part of it,” she said.
