The weekend match finished off Daylesford’s tough season in style over an opponent two places higher on the ladder.
Daylesford was finally able to muster a near full strength team for an important game, with young guns Owen Turbitt, Aidan Mayger, Jordy Barnes and Laclan Torpedo making the difference with five goals between them and a load of powerhouse up front.
Daylesford dominated midfield with possession champagne football, creating chances and holding strong in defense.
It was the experience and brilliance of Hiroshi Masuda and Harry Robb who held strong in defense all day, with Ivan Carter and Dragi Koleski playing a top game.
The game marked the retirement of superstar keeper Jarrod Prosier and a tribute to captain Francis Comber, who broke his leg the previous week.
Coach Shanka Hackenburger was happy with the result. "Clearly it has been a tough season with many injuries and missing players, but we showed we can match it with quality sides in Ballarat’s best competition.”
Daylesford players will rest for a few months, before pre-season in Europe and South America over summer, and then getting ready for another FFA Cup entry.
Score: Daylesford 5 to Vultures 3
