Jones and Bungaree netballer Olivia Browning both polled 21 votes – one clear of Gordon’s Jaye Dalgleish, to be named joint winners.
Browning was among the leaders for much of the night, reaching 21 votes with two rounds to go. It was her fellow winner Jones who stormed home to accompany Browning. Jones had only six votes after 11 rounds before reeling off five best on court performances in succession.
Daylesford’s Joel Cowan and Hepburn’s Andy McKay, were runner-ups in the Geoff Taylor Medal count, both scoring 20 votes.
Cowan, Daniel Wehrung (Daylesford), Liam Hepbworth (Creswick) and Clunes’ Jesse Baird and Ryan Thompson polled well in The Courier player of the year awrad.
