During an official match function between Daylesford and Gordon clubs in the Central Highlands Football League, several guest speakers talked about their lives in their respective sporting arenas.
Guest included former AFL player and four-time premiership coach David Parkin, AFL games record holder Brent 'Boomer' Harvey, all-time netball great Sharelle McMahon and former AFL player for the Melbourne Demons, Russell Robertson.
Daylesford FNC president Guy McLeod said for the club to be selected to host the WorkSafe Game of the Month for the region was a great honour and privilege.
"WorkSafe is focusing on farm safety this year as 30 per cent of all workplace deaths in the past five years have been on farms. For them to recognise that the Daylesford region has a strong farming community highlights their ongoing community connection strategy through the Workplace safety pledges,” McLeod said.
"For the younger generation of footballers and netballers, being able to meet such legends of Australian sport will remain with them for the rest of their lives. For the older generation, hearing David Parkin no doubt brought back memories of yesteryear.”
As part of the special day, Netball Victoria held a come and try NetSetGO session for dozens of children aged between five and 10 years.
