Nine years after making the tree change the avid gardener is looking to share her love of fresh produce with the community through the town’s first harvest festival.
Set to take place this Saturday at the Lyonville Community Hall, the festival will feature competitions including the largest potato and pumpkin as well as the most bountiful basket of goods from the one garden.
Kids are also encouraged to get involved, with a prize being awarded for the best dressed vegetable and the best novelty vegetable.
Ms Jackson said while quality produce was certainly a focus, the festival also aimed to bring together community members who otherwise might not interact regularly.
“We're all a bit isolated here but having events like this and the cake bake-off allows people to get out and meet their neighbours,” Ms Jackson said. “We also need to make better use of the hall because it's such a beautiful facility.”
