The money is to assist with the installation of a hearing loop at the Rex cinema in Daylesford.
This loop will assist those with hearing aids to have a much better cinema experience.
The loops carry audio-frequency currents which allow the sound source to be transmitted to the hearing-impaired listener directly via their hearing aid by the flick of a switch.
The sound received is clear and free of other distracting noise.
DCT president Linda Carroll acknowledged the work of the previous committee.
"We are only a small committee with a big task ahead of us with one main goal and that is to provide the locals with a cinema that we can all be proud of."
