Year 12 student Isabella Thomas will connect with influential female mentors on the ‘Power Trip’, designed to build leadership skills for young women from country Victoria.
Ms Thomas said she was looking forward to the trip in December which will allow her to network with other like minded participants and meet politicians and CEOs.
Her application to the program was sparked by an interest in the topic; “from primary school to prime minister, how can we create strong pathways to power for women?”. “Number one, support – offer support for women in terms of childcare and support networks to bolster a culture for women in positions of power,” Ms Thomas said. “Number two, visibility – show us women doing things in powerful positions and talking about what they believe in.”
Ms Thomas hopes to become a human rights lawyer and is looking to study law and global studies next year.
