It is hoped the new roundabout will improve safety at the intersection by dealing with increasing traffic flow and ensuring drivers slow down at the intersection of Midland Highway, Daylesford-Trentham Road and East Street.
The Farmers Arms Daylesford owner Mitchell Duncan said he had noticed drivers being safer at the intersection since the roundabout’s completion. “It’s done its job,” he said.
Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas said the community had been calling for the roundabout after five serious crashes had occurred at the intersection over the past five years.
“This roundabout will make it easier for locals to get in and out of the town, and ensure visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience while they are here,” Ms Thomas said.
Visibility has also been improved with the installation of brighter street lighting.
