Tsaptsali, who has been playing the game since grade 5, was part of the Under 15s Victorian State team, which competed against teams from New Zealand and Samoa.
The Victorian team played eight games during the championships before making the finals against Queensland. Despite being two sets all, Victoria lost by three points, 15-12.
Tsaptsali has been playing volleyball at Daylesford Secondary College and at the Daylesford Volleyball Association competition, which is played on Monday nights at the ARC. He trains in Dandenong, Bendigo and training at camps in Mildura and Horsham.
Coach Colin Priest said Tsaptsali had demonstrated great improvement throughout the year by training hard. “Generally playing middle, Ben has had some terrific blocks shutting down some hard spiking from his opposition, getting the odd kill spike though the middle.”
