Carroll’s ‘Life of Adam Lindsay Gordon’, a poetic and musical tribute to Adam Lindsay Gordon, is the result of an interest sparked after finding one of his poetry books while on holiday.
“Gordon moved to Australia for a fresh start as a twenty year old in 1853 after having been a pretty challenging youth,” Mr Carroll said. In Australia, Mr Gordon devoted time to his passion of literature, which led to his post humus accolade as Australia’s poet. Before tragically ending his life at the age of 36, he spent time in Ballarat and his cottage has been relocated to the Botanic Gardens.
An author, Mr Carroll has been performing for five years, after he said filling in for a sick actor in a play sparked an interest and unleashed a host of creativity inside him that he didn't know existed.
He will be performing at the Newstead Short Story Tattoo. For more information visit newsteadtattoo.org.
