The Children’s Book Council of Australia Ballarat branch organised for Ms Saxby to spend the day at the school engaging students in a range of activities aimed at improving their literacy.
“I have been talking about how stories are made and while that involves reading stories, I have been more talking about construction of sentences, story structure, characters, and writing about different subjects,” she said.
“It has been great; Skipton has really great students with great questions."
Ms Saxby said she gets a real kick out of visiting regional schools to talk about her craft and pass on her love of books to the next generation.
“I love coming out to the country schools,” she said.
“I love to come out and see the towns as well as meeting the kids; country kids have a different perceptive on the world.”
