An image of their garden with a gardening tip could see one of Ballarat’s green fingered gurus crowned the area’s gardening king or queen and featured on the cover of the directory which will be distributed in March.
Partner to the competition, Australian City Farms and Community Gardens Network Victoria representative Lorna Martin praised the mental and physical health benefits of gardening.
“People love to garden and there are so many benefits including physical and mental health. Not only do gardens make communities healthier, but also more sustainable, more connected and of course, more beautiful too. Community gardens bring people of all ages and nationalities together to not only grow organic produce but also to engage, teach and nourish all who visit,” she said.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing some of the wonderful gardens out there on the covers of this year’s directories.”
Applications are open until September 21. For more information and to enter visit yellowpages.com.au/articles/gardeners/are-you-australias-next-garden-great.
