As hail and strong winds lash the region, VicRoads has issued a plea for caution on the roads.
Black ice has been reported in Dereel along Colac-Ballarat road, although it could also appear elsewhere.
A large hailstorm has also hit Gordon.
VicRoads says the Old Western Highway is covered in hailstones, while many other roads in the area could also be dangerous.
Motorists are urged to take extreme caution in the weather.
