After a close first three quarters where both sides exchanged slim leads, Sovereigns led by four goals with eight minutes remaining in the match before it all fell apart.
The end result was an 11-goal turnaround as Falcons claimed a 59-52 victory.
Coach Kim Bailey said while it was a disappointing result, she was proud of the group’s season.
Bailey felt a lack of finals experience showed on Wednesday night.
“It was a bit disappointing in the end,” Bailey said.
“Five minutes of madness really, we started to lose concentration and turn balls over.
“I think it was their finals experience. They have never missed out on the finals...they’ve got a settled team, they’re used to that finals pressure, where our girls just weren’t. We did all the hard work prior to that, but I couldn’t of been prouder of the girls.”
