Hepburn Shire councillor Kate Redwood was due to put a motion before council on Tuesday night urging the state government to intervene to prevent the eviction of permanent residents from the Daylesford Holiday Park.

In March 11 permanent residents were given a year’s notice to vacate the premises after new proprietors took over the park in December 2016.
In 2011 the Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning issued new guidelines saying crown land parks must not be managed for long term occupancy or permanent residency, however the body did not explicitly say permanent residents must be evicted.
If the motion is passed council will officially condemn the proprietors of the park and call on the state government to pass new legislation to “protect the rights of long term and permanent” residents.
Ms Redwood said in addition to the council support she anticipated a “big turnout” from the wider community in support of the tenants.
