Bold Sniper, raced by Queen Elizabeth II, makes his jumping debut E-Cycle Solutions Maiden Hurdle, 3200m, at Sportsbet Ballarat.
BTC chief executive officer Lachlan McKenzie said it would great to have the Queen’s colours – purple, gold braid, scarlet sleeves, black velvet cap, gold fringe – being worn in Ballarat.
Bold Sniper was bred by the Queen and has spent most of his racing career in Australia, after first arriving in 2014-15 and joining the Lindsay Park training operation led by David Hayes.
The seven-year-old has had 28 career starts – 17 of them in the past two years for Hayes.
“This will be Bold Sniper’s first time at Sportsbet-Ballarat and we’re looking forward to seeing him make his jumps debut here,” McKenzie said.
Bold Sniper has had two wins in Australia, but has not raced since being unplaced in the Oakbank Cup in South Australia in April.
Hayes has given him two hurdle trials at Sale and Terang, winning each with Steve Pateman in the sale.
Shane Jackson takes the ride on Thursday.
