The band’s repertoire spans early swing, jive and blues to modern jazz.
Creating a balance of vocal and instrumental swing, jazz and blues numbers, including a cover of Johnny Cash’s Folsom Blues in a swing jazz rhythm. Dexterously switching instruments throughout their set, the boys love tight vocal harmonies and perform a rich selection of uptempo tunes suitable for dancing and toe-tapping, as well as the classic standards.
Moodswing is Russell James (piano, accordion and vocals), Jim Brannon (clarinet, saxophone, ukulele, percussion and vocals) and Pip Avent (tuba, bass guitar, double bass and vocals).
Saturday, Simon Marks, @ Horvat’s Supper Club
Marks has reunited with musicians including Ben Franz (The Waifs) and Syd Green (19-Twenty) to record his fourth release Big River, Little Stories.
Marks began his career with an invite to perform at the West Coast Blues and Roots Festival and has toured the world playing at festivals, concerts and bars.
A recent shift to a town on the banks of the Murray River inspired Marks’ new album, with themes about the area, its people and life in country Victoria.
The singer-songwriter will bring his intimate and upbeat show to Horvat's Supper Club.
PCM said trying to pigeonhole Mark’s music is not an easy task. “With songs ranging from rock to roots, via folk and blues, the sheer diversity of this performer is one of his greatest attributes.”
