The $1.2 million project was originally announced by state Treasurer Tim Pallas in May 2016 and was initially slated to begin in the summer, however the roundabout development was not put out to tender until February.
The intersection was the site of five crashes in five years up to December 2015, resulting in 10 injuries. Construction is expected to be completed this year.
