Rattley suffered the injury 22 minutes into the last quarter, having to be helped from the ground. He had surgery on Sunday morning.
East Point coach Jake Bridges is unsure how long Rattley will be out, but confirmed “it’s not good”.
The Rattley injury was the last thing the Kangaroos needed on a day when they were on the end of a 63-point loss to Redan at the City Oval.
Rattley arrived at East Point this year from Smythesdale in the Central Highland league to support veteran ruckman Paul Koderenko.
Meanwhile, the playing future of Melton captain Jake Gleeson in unknown after he was concussed in an accidental clash of heads against Darley at Melton on Saturday.
Melton coach Brad Murphy said it was Gleeson’s second concussion in three games.
Murphy said at the very least he would miss the mandatory one match.
With a break for the BFL’s encounter with Bendigo in the AFL Victoria Community Championship, this will give him a minimum rest of two weeks.
Murphy said Gleeson “was not in a great way” on Saturday night and he would see a specialist for a check-up this week.
He said the long-term welfare of Gleeson was the highest priority.
Murphy said unfortunately Gleeson had a history of concussions.
“It’s just the way he plays. That’s hard to change.”
North Ballarat City also has a significant injury concern with Sam Bromley-Lynch to have scans for medial ligament damage.
Sam Bromley-Lynch suffered the knee trouble in the third quarter against Ballarat Swans at Alfredton on Saturday night.
Daniel Kilpatrick was also an early casualty for North Ballarat, losing a front tooth in the opening quarter.
Coach Jordyn Burke said Kilpatrick caught the tooth as it was knocked out and went straight to hospital.
