The Under 7s and Under 9s season will be launched today at 4.30pm at the Daylesford AFL Football Oval.
Boys and girls from the region are being encouraged to come along and try the “world game” and enjoy some new skills and teamwork for the 2017 season.
Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club president Josh Smith spoke passionately about the rise of the game in the region.
“It has been an incredible journey to see the explosion in numbers in these age groups,” Smith said.
“The club has experienced a massive increase of 300 per cent over the past five years. Soccer is an enjoyable game for boys and girls alike from a young age and the rate of injury is much lower than other sports.”
The Under 7s and 9s will join the 11s, 13s and 15s at the temporary venue of the Daylesford AFL Oval while the soccer oval is being re-seeded for the upcoming season.
All new and returning players are welcome, with the possibility of teams competing in the BDSA Sunday League.
Smith said the 2017 season promised to be a massive one for the club, with a newly irrigated pitch in great condition and new coaches on board across the club.
Training schedule for 2017:
U/15s: Wednesdays at 4.30pm at VicPark Footy Oval;
U/13s: Wednesdays at 4.30pm at Vicpark Footy Oval;
U/11s: Wednesdays at 4.30pm at Vicpark Footy Oval;
Seniors: Wednesdays at 6.30pm at Vicpark Footy Oval.
The Daylesford and Hepburn United Soccer Club is also looking for volunteer coaches in the under 11s and under 13 age groups.
”If you haven’t coached before, but are willing to support the club, we will make sure you have assistance from the more established coaches,” Smith said.
If you are able to help, contact Smith on his email president@daylesfordsoccerclub.com or telephone 0425 770 330 to discuss further.
